This Thursday 4 April, Stanislav Kochanovsky will make his London debut with the Philharmonia Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall, conducting an exhilarating all-Russian programme.

The concert begins with Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2 – famed for its dazzling display of technical virtuosity and brilliance – which will be performed by Denis Matsuev (with whom Stanislav will make his already sold-out debut with Orchestre de Paris later this month), followed by Shostakovich’s colossal Symphony No. 7 Leningrad. Dedicated to St Petersburg, the home city of both composer and conductor, Stanislav last conducted the symphony earlier this season with the RTÉ Symphony Orchestra in an interpretation received as a “masterfully graded” (bachtrack).

Stanislav’s London debut is just one of a number of exciting recent and upcoming highlights; this season has already included debuts with the CBSO, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Hamburger Symphoniker, and future exciting plans include debuts with Orchestre de Paris, Danish National Symphony, Gürzenich Orchester Köln and Dresden Philharmonic. Stanislav returns to Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra (at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam), Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, in addition to the prestigious Verbier Festival, where he will conduct an opera in concert for the third consecutive year.
