[...] Three years after The Enchanted Flute, Stanislav Kochanovsky takes over the reins of the Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra. With Hansel and Gretel, he polarizes severe and sharp instruments into moving extremes of good and evil, between which evolves a universe of sensations, of swirling volumes. It is really the fullness of a German nature, with wooded greenery, that the chef seeks to meet. It opens harmonies as huge doors to parallel worlds, but above all, it considers the modulation of the viewpoint of the slide rather than that of departure or arrival to guide the sentence. Sublimated Neapolitan sixes or tectonic cadences serve as support for an orchestral mixture in a cauldron of metamorphoses. We knew Humperdinck's music was a gem; Stanislav Kochanovsky is actually a diadem. The teenagers of the Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra sing and rythm to break everything, recognizing the great direction they receive. They provide the most, perhaps sometimes too much for the voices, but swim the characters in an ocean of sincerity to make their emergence even more remarkable. Sparkling hautewood, round coppers and sticky strings are the first signs of musicians who, under 18, are promised a bright future.
